Description

A lighter take on classic banana bread, these 100 Calorie Banana Bread Donuts are perfect for any time of the day.


Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a donut pan with non-stick spray.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Add unsweetened applesauce and honey or maple syrup, stirring until well combined.
  4. Combine the whole wheat flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just incorporated.
  6. Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each mold two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
