Description

A cozy and vibrant dish featuring layers of sweet potatoes, tart cranberries, and creamy Gruyère cheese, perfect for gatherings and holiday feasts.


Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 1/2 cups Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon thyme (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Layer half of the sweet potato slices in a greased baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle half of the cranberries and half of the Gruyère cheese over the potatoes.
  4. Add the remaining sweet potato slices, followed by the remaining cranberries and Gruyère.
  5. Pour the heavy cream over the layered ingredients, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  6. Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the top.
  7. Bake for about 45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For variations, consider adding toasted nuts, swapping herbs, or making it vegan with alternative ingredients.
