Description

A warm and comforting Snickerdoodle Cobbler with a tender cake-like base and a rich caramelized topping, perfect for cozy gatherings.


Ingredients

  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar, packed
  • 1 ½ cups hot water
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and pour the melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole milk, vanilla extract, and granulated sugar until combined.
  3. Add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon; whisk until just combined, with some lumps remaining.
  4. Spoon the batter evenly over the melted butter; do not stir.
  5. Sprinkle the packed brown sugar over the batter, then gently pour the hot water over the mixture without stirring.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
  7. Mix together ¼ cup of sugar with ½ teaspoon of cinnamon; sprinkle this over the hot cobbler as soon as it comes out of the oven.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving, preferably warm, with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider adding nutmeg or fresh berries for a seasonal twist.
