- ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 ½ cups brown sugar, packed
- 1 ½ cups hot water
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and pour the melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole milk, vanilla extract, and granulated sugar until combined.
- Add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon; whisk until just combined, with some lumps remaining.
- Spoon the batter evenly over the melted butter; do not stir.
- Sprinkle the packed brown sugar over the batter, then gently pour the hot water over the mixture without stirring.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
- Mix together ¼ cup of sugar with ½ teaspoon of cinnamon; sprinkle this over the hot cobbler as soon as it comes out of the oven.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving, preferably warm, with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider adding nutmeg or fresh berries for a seasonal twist.
