Description

A creamy and hearty blend of stone-ground grits, smoky gouda, and crispy bacon, baked to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups stone-ground grits
  • 4 cups water or chicken broth
  • 1 cup shredded Gouda cheese
  • 6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring the water or chicken broth to a rolling boil.
  3. Whisk in the stone-ground grits and reduce the heat to simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened.
  4. Stir in the milk, shredded Gouda cheese, crumbled bacon, salt, and pepper until combined.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and smoothly the top.
  6. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the surface.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve warm.
