- 1 cup milk

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot, bring the water or chicken broth to a rolling boil.
- Whisk in the stone-ground grits and reduce the heat to simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened.
- Stir in the milk, shredded Gouda cheese, crumbled bacon, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and smoothly the top.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the surface.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve warm.
