Description
This slow cooker round steak recipe turns a budget-friendly cut into a tender, flavorful meal. With just a few pantry ingredients and a trusty crock pot, you’ll have a no-fail dinner perfect for busy weeknights or lazy Sundays.
Ingredients
2–3 pounds round steak (top or bottom round)
1 onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can cream of mushroom soup (or 2 cups beef broth)
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 packet onion soup mix or brown gravy mix
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
1 cup baby carrots or potatoes (optional)
1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
1. Season round steak with salt and pepper.
2. (Optional) Sear steak in a hot skillet to brown both sides.
3. Place sliced onions in the bottom of the slow cooker.
4. Add steak, garlic, soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, and cream of mushroom soup or broth.
5. Top with mushrooms and carrots if using.
6. Cover and cook on LOW for 7–8 hours or until steak is fork-tender.
7. (Optional) Mix cornstarch and water, then stir into sauce 30 minutes before the end to thicken.
8. Slice steak against the grain and serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
Notes
You can skip searing the steak if you’re short on time it’s still delicious!
Leftovers can be used in steak sandwiches, wraps, or shredded into tacos.
