Description

Golden, flaky sausage rolls filled with a savory blend of pork, caramelized onions, and cheese, perfect for cozy gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) pork mince (ground pork)
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix (or 1 cup sautéed onions + 1 tsp onion powder)
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed if frozen
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • Cheese (cheddar, mozzarella)
  • Fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, parsley)
  • Chili flakes for spice


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (392°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine pork mince with French onion soup mix, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and black pepper.
  3. Mix together until well combined.
  4. Roll out puff pastry and cut each sheet in half, creating four rectangles.
  5. Place a portion of the savory mixture on one edge of each rectangle and sprinkle cheese on top.
  6. Roll the pastry over the filling, sealing the edges with water or egg wash.
  7. Beat egg with milk and brush the mixture over the tops of the rolls.
  8. Place rolls on the baking tray and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.
