- For the brown butter icing:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown and aromatic; allow to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the browned butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar, and mix until creamy.
- Add the egg, maple syrup, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing well.
- Gradually add the flour mixture and ground cinnamon to the wet ingredients, stirring gently with a spatula until a dough forms.
- Scoop tablespoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them a few inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set and the tops are slightly crinkled.
- While the cookies cool, melt another 1/2 cup of unsalted butter for the icing until golden.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk the browned butter with powdered sugar and maple syrup until smooth and creamy.
- Drizzle the icing over the cooled cookies and enjoy!
