Description

Delightful maple cookies infused with a hint of cinnamon, perfect for fall gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • For the brown butter icing:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown and aromatic; allow to cool slightly.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the browned butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar, and mix until creamy.
  5. Add the egg, maple syrup, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing well.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture and ground cinnamon to the wet ingredients, stirring gently with a spatula until a dough forms.
  7. Scoop tablespoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them a few inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set and the tops are slightly crinkled.
  9. While the cookies cool, melt another 1/2 cup of unsalted butter for the icing until golden.
  10. In a mixing bowl, whisk the browned butter with powdered sugar and maple syrup until smooth and creamy.
  11. Drizzle the icing over the cooled cookies and enjoy!

Notes

For variations, consider adding pumpkin spice, nuts, chocolate chips, dried fruits, or an almond drizzle.
