Description
A comforting and hearty casserole with layers of ground beef, potatoes, and cheese, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1/4 cup milk (optional, for creaminess)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned, draining excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until the onion is soft.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Layer the thinly sliced potatoes over the beef, sprinkling with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
- Top the potatoes with shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Pour beef broth (or water) around the edges of the casserole and drizzle in milk for extra creaminess, if desired.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until cheese is golden brown and potatoes are tender.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
