Description

A comforting and hearty casserole with layers of ground beef, potatoes, and cheese, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/4 cup milk (optional, for creaminess)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned, draining excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until the onion is soft.
  4. Spread the beef mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Layer the thinly sliced potatoes over the beef, sprinkling with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  6. Top the potatoes with shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. Pour beef broth (or water) around the edges of the casserole and drizzle in milk for extra creaminess, if desired.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until cheese is golden brown and potatoes are tender.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
