Description

Delightful ham and cheese puff pastry trees, perfect for Christmas gatherings and celebrations.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
  • 12 slices of deli ham (thinly sliced)
  • 12 slices of cheese (cheddar, gouda, Swiss, or mozzarella)
  • 24 wooden skewers
  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • Sprinkle of sesame or poppy seeds (optional)
  • Thin layer of honey mustard or fig jam (optional)
  • Star-shaped cheese cutouts for a decorative “tree topper”


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lay one sheet of puff pastry on a floured surface, cover with 6 slices of cheese, then add 6 slices of ham.
  3. Place the second puff pastry sheet over the layered ingredients and press edges to seal.
  4. Cut the layered pastry into 1-inch wide strips.
  5. Fold each strip back and forth onto a wooden skewer to form the tree shape.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk melted butter, minced garlic, and parsley, then brush this mixture over the assembled trees.
  7. If desired, sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds over the trees.
  8. Place trees on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
