Description

A festive cocktail combining the flavors of gingerbread with vodka and Kahlúa, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup honey (or maple syrup)
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2-inch piece of fresh ginger (thinly sliced)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Ice
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce Kahlúa
  • 1 ounce gingerbread syrup (or more, to taste)
  • 1-2 ounces heavy cream
  • Cinnamon and sugar mixture for rimming the glass
  • Mini gingerbread cookies for garnish
  • Ground cinnamon or nutmeg for dusting


Instructions

  1. Prepare the Gingerbread Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine water, honey, molasses, sliced ginger, cinnamon sticks, and vanilla extract. Heat over medium heat and let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Strain the syrup into a glass jar, discarding solids, and let cool.
  3. Rim your glass: Mix cinnamon and sugar on a small plate. Moisten the rim of the glass with honey or water and roll it in the mixture.
  4. In a mixing glass, combine ice, vodka, Kahlúa, and gingerbread syrup. Stir until well mixed.
  5. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with ice.
  6. Top with heavy cream and garnish with ground cinnamon or nutmeg and a mini gingerbread cookie.

Notes

For variations, try adding nutmeg to the syrup, swapping gingerbread syrup for pumpkin spice syrup, or blending the ingredients with vanilla ice cream for a dessert-style drink.
