- 1 package phyllo dough
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, then season with paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Add rice and beef broth to the skillet, stir, and let it simmer until the rice is tender.
- Grease a baking dish and layer half of the phyllo dough, brushing each layer with olive oil.
- Spread the meat and rice mixture evenly over the phyllo layers.
- Layer the remaining phyllo dough on top, brushing with olive oil, and finish with a beaten egg wash.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
