Description

A comforting dish of sweet potatoes layered with a caramelized sauce and topped with marshmallows and nuts, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.


Ingredients

  • 5-6 medium sweet potatoes, peeled & cut into thin medallions
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans (or walnuts)
  • ½ cup mini marshmallows


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. Peel and slice sweet potatoes into thin medallions and arrange them in a baking dish.
  3. Melt unsalted butter in a saucepan and stir in brown sugar, water, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Brush three-quarters of the sauce over sweet potatoes, cover with aluminum foil, and bake for 45-50 minutes.
  5. After baking, remove foil, drizzle remaining sauce over sweet potatoes, and sprinkle with pecans and marshmallows.
  6. Broil in the oven for 1-2 minutes until marshmallows are golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
