- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup mashed potatoes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: grated cheese for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into about six evenly-sized patties.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add oil and sear the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
- In a baking dish, arrange the seared patties in a single layer and pour beef broth over them.
- Dollop creamy mashed potatoes generously over the patties.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Optionally, sprinkle grated cheese over the top and return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
Feel free to add seasonal vegetables or try different cheeses to enhance flavors.
